My Story
I was 18 when I knew I wanted to be a therapist. I began looking into the pain of my own story and I discovered that with the comfort and compassion I had been shown, I could offer that to others. I experienced profound healing that changed my life and set me on a course of passionate advocacy for my clients. I experienced this freedom in part because of my community and the relationship I had with a trusted therapist, but also because of a deep faith and personal relationship with Jesus.
I have over 20 years of experience working with a variety of people. I have extensive training in the areas of sexual abuse and eating disorders, anxiety, co-dependency and depression. I also work with the LBGT community, aging/the elderly, couples,(re: infidelity, communication, intimacy)and those struggling with gender identity. I have worked in several settings throughout my career including working with college students at William Jessup University, Bayside Counseling Center, private practice, a group home for at risk youth, a home for Developmentally Disabled Adults, and as a Social Worker working with foster children.
I advocate personal reflection, direct communication, honesty, finding strategies that work for you and creating a plan based on your goals. This is your journey, and I am honored to have a front row seat to what healing will take place. I am a proponent of the body- soul -mind connection. I will be encouraging you to connect with your cognitive process, to pay attention to your thoughts, embrace your emotions, pay attention to your intuitive sense and have integrity in your relationships. This in turn leads you to become a more whole, integrated, aware person.
I am a wife and mother of two beautiful, amazing kids. We love spending time together hiking, going for bike rides, camping or going to the beach.
